Blog - Lorna's Corner

Lorna's Corner is the blog for The Colour Corner, your local yarn store in rural Aberdeenshire.

What's new for November?

Cowls are the must-knit item this month as crafters look toward Christmas.  A cowl is such a great gift for a multitude of reasons:  so quick to make, suits men and women, can often be completed with just one ball of wool so very pocket-friendly too!  From elderly relatives to hard-to-buy-for teens, there's a cowl to keep all necks cosy this winter.

Here's a few of the cowls on display in the shop just now which you'll want to make for that someone special.

The greenneck wrap on the left requires two 50g balls of Rico Creative Melange Chunky and is complemented by ceramic buttons from the shop.

This soft grey cowl is knitted using one ball of Rico Bonbon and rejoices in the pattern name 'Marshmallow Fluff'!

Three different colours of Drops Eskimo have been used to knit the lovely unisex cowl on the left.

For a luxury version, try knitting Colinette Tao in pure silk along with Parisienne kid mohair.

This is available as a kit which would make a wonderful gift for any knitter.  Come in and see us to discuss your favourite!
